I grew up in Romania and spent all summer vacations at my grandparents farm. I learned how to grow everything from seed to table. The food was all organic, nutritious and healthy. But basic. We bought very little from markets, because it was the communist era and the markets were almost empty. Those condiments and spices that I was reading about in books were just a dream.
I enjoy the outdoors, sunrises, sunsets and everything that nature offers and really love foraging. I have books on mushrooms and garden herbs but am only certain about five types of mushrooms.
Then, in the mid 90’s I moved to Canada and I met my husband, Tony, who is a gourmand and for the first time I went to an Indian restaurant. The smells and the taste of the food was amazing and overwhelming for me, but I loved it. So, since then I’ve been tasting new cuisine from all over the world.
The idea of the blogg started in 2022 when I realised that my printed recipes and note books recipes didn’t fit in one big box. Our daughter, Alexandra, had called me for a recipe that she enjoyed and I couldn’t remember every ingredient.
After my Father passed away in January 2012, we moved back to Romania to help my Mom. We live a quiet and simple life in a small city and I am recreating or trying to recreate the recipes from places that we ate at and recipes of friends from various cultures.
Now in 2025, I finally got the courage to start a blogg. I hope you enjoy and find something useful being here!
